The third (but not final) book in the Last Legacy series will be called The Ravenstorm Ruin and is currently set to publish in the first half of 2028. Here’s the announcement trailer that I posted on Instagram earlier this week.

It took me a while to land on a title for this novel, largely because I knew it would be informed by a particular sequence in the book, and I just didn’t know enough about that sequence to have a sense of what might work as a title whilst also being meaningful to the story. But after spending some time working on this part of the book, I gradually figured out various character, story and worldbuilding elements that eventually led me to The Ravenstorm Ruin, which is a title I really love and which carries multiple meanings. (As an aside, I was initially keen to carry on with the colour/noun compound approach that worked so well on the previous books, but after spending a long time sifting through colour charts and trying to match colours with various metals, stones and goodness knows what else, I had to concede defeat.)
A quick word on the publication date, which has – understandably – led to a flurry of crying emojis: I really wanted to release this book in 2027, but as the writing progressed, it became increasingly obvious I wasn’t going to hit the necessary deadline. The most important thing to me is writing the best book I possibly can, so to this end I had a chat with my editors and we agreed to move the book to the first half of 2028. I know that feels like a long time away, so I appreciate everyone’s patience. I’m confident the book will be worth the wait.
This doesn’t mean I won’t have anything releasing next year, as I hope to have a short story set in the Last Legacy world published in ‘27. The story takes place in a part of the world we’ve not visited before, and features completely new characters, and I had a blast writing it. More news on this in the next few months. I’ve also got some character art in the works, so there will be plenty of Last Legacy content coming while you wait for the next book.
